I was born in New Jersey, went to a private boarding school called, Milton Hershey School, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. While there, my best friend told me I needed a plan before I graduated grade 12, so… I jumped right into the workforce and moved out on my own. I have to admit, I missed my mums food, she was a Gourmet Chef, but I had to go start my life. I had stuff to do…
I really didn’t have a plan.
I worked a lot. That was my plan. I tried to find the perfect job that would pay the bills, and I enjoyed doing for the rest of my life. You know the old formula, go to school, get a job, work forty years doing the same thing so that you can earn a decent retirement, or as we call it in Oz, a Super. With that in mind, I did a lot of different things while I was searching for the perfect career over the last 28 years or so.
Being a good, law abiding citizen, like many other Americans, I became a work-a-holic to live comfortably. Basically that translated to, I didnt really get a holiday. As a matter of fact, unless I was moving, I didn’t travel much.
A work injury, and then another injury, ended my nearly 9 years as a California State Police Officer at an all male, maximum security, facility for the criminally insane. Thats right, I didnt make a typo, I said injury twice. OK, maybe I was a slow learner. I was only asking the Universe to find my perfect job for… how many years? Why rush things now? I mean, I already gave up the coffee, cigarettes and donuts. I knew a change was on the horizon! I just didn’t expect to go out like this, you know, with an injury.
Now that I needed a new career, my partner at the time, suggested to me, that I should go to culinary school and fulfil that dream Ive had for a long time. A lifestyle change to a raw food diet made my choices limited, but it sounded like a good idea to me. So it had been, three years later since I attended culinary school and I was one of the lead instructor at the only Raw Vegan, Post Secondary Certified, Culinary School in the world. By george! I think Ive found what I LOVE to do! TEACH! Not only teach, but teach about what I really love FOOD! I was in heaven! I loved my job so much, that I was not only given more responsibility, but at times, my boss had to kick me out! I was in my element and I was content, at least for now.
I mean, I did have to start financially over, and my partner and I parted in peace after nearly 14yrs, but I was happy! I was not only happy, I was grounded, and finally feeling like the plan was emerging, I was rockn’ my groove thing. Well, until that gorgeous, talented, Aussie woman flew to the States, and you got it, attended the only Raw Vegan, Post Secondary Certified, Culinary School in the world. (Hmm, why did I choose places to work that were a mouthful to say. ha ha).
Well, AFTER she graduated, one thing let to the next, such as, this American work-a-holic was going to travel! Like a wave knocking my toggies off, I was swept off my feet, and moving to Australia to be with Zane. We became partners in life and partners in business. We were riding on the wave of our passion for teaching, for health and wellness and love!Â
We taught raw food and wellness together, it was fun, sort of. We lugged our kitchen around in the name of changing the world by educating people to live a happier, healthier life. There was just one thing, OK, maybe two it was a blast, but that dragging the food and kitchen around thing was getting old, and we needed to be financially sustainable. I thought, theres got to be a better way to help people change their lives, teach them simple things they can do to make a massive change in their life without dragging our house around, love what I do and heck, lets just get crazy and earn enough money to live the life we dreamed of.
So we traveled to India for two and a half months. We were studying yoga, a five hundred hour course with our guru, in the jungle. We not only got bendy, but with our current job needing a restructuring, I did what I know best! I meditated and tried all the vegetarian street food I could find! I love India! Have you been there? Yeah, well, aside from being one of my all time favourite foods, my immune system didn’t even know how to act.
I became so under the weather! I would love to tell you my list of ailments, however, I cant tell you because that wouldnt be compliant, so you’ll just have to use you imagination. But let me tell you, it was VERY real to me. You could see it, hear it, feel it, sometimes smell it – did I mention Zane was fine?
No one could tell me what was wrong with me. Not even the little, old, Indian dude with the glasses resting on the tip of his nose, as he looked up at me over the pile of small boxes on his desk, right next to the torch, magnifying glass, pad and pen. My body was covered in red, bumpy patches that contributed to many sleepless nights. I was hot! And it wasn’t because we were in India and I was strutn’ my new duds.
At times, I simply didn’t have the fuel to go on. One day I felt like I could swing from the trees like Tarzan, and the next, felt like Sleepy from the Seven Dwarfs. After being told, it was something I ate for so long, although it may have been possible, I didn’t feel that was the case, since there was no change to what I was experiencing even after being at home and back to my regular diet for a month and a half. It was going on three months and I was feeling more and more like Sleepy with a combination of Sneezy. If I didn’t do something fast, I would have the entire Seven Dwarves knocking at my door!
I couldn’t take any more! I finally gave in and went to seek help. Because I wasnt an Aussie permanent resident yet, it cost me over $500, blood work and unwanted capsules. I reluctantly took them because I didnt know what else to do.
Did I mention my partner was just fine? Oh, and the capsules didnt work. Zane asked me if I was ready to try her method. I had nothing to lose besides the $500 and three months of my life already gone, right? Well, I tried her way, and in 3 days, I was back! Oh yeah, you could call me Jane baby! I was swinging from the tree tops again.Â
Why am I telling you, what seems like the Readers Digest version of my life? (Oh and theres more, so much more cool stories with cool stuff that I cant tell you about! You’ll have to wait for the book).
Now, where was I, oh yeah, I’m telling you this, because I love how it came full circle. So, lets recap, shall we?
I didn’t listen to my friend about having a plan. The Universe lead me through eleven jobs/careers to figure out my passion. I found it through being present on my journey and allowing each jobs/careers to add more and more to my experience until the time was right for me to move into my path of collected skills and talents.
Hmm – sidebar. As I was typing this, I had the vision of a tree. Its like all of the roots are a strong, grounding, foundation that not only lead the way to the tree top, but come together and form one solid, majestic, Redwood-like trunk. Its the main path, that stretches way up high in the sky, reaching for the heavens. You see, everything is the same, everything is connected, everything is one. Do you get it? Now, where was I… *squirrel!*
Remember the trip to india? Remember my system didnt know how to act and had no motivation, energy and my health was in the dump? Remember all the time I lost, and money I spent? Remember I said, my partner didnt experience any visits from the Snow White or the Dwarves? Did I mention I was very willing to share what I had, she just simply didnt get it?
Finally! The end of my story, and I have great news! I have a plan now! My plan is to teach and empower as many people to improve their mind, body and spirit, using what I added to my tool-belt of knowledge and experience as well as, the very same holistic health practices Zane shared with me. I have seen so many lives changed besides my own!
Besides, I figure, if everyone felt better, we wouldn’t have so many cranky people in this world, and we would all get along! Ha, I told you I was on a mission to change the world!
Not only have I found my purpose, but it also provides me/us with a profitable, abundant, lifestyle sustainable, business that helps change lives for the better… Through my my journey, I have many tools to draw from. Nothing was ever a mistake! Now I just get to sum up (some of) what I AM.
I am an International Holistic Health Speaker, Spirit Junkie, Teacher, Blogger, Essential Oil Wellness Advocate, Artist, a Yogini (no thats not what you wear when doing yoga on the beach), a Raw Food Chef, (there is absolutely no correlation there), a world traveler, at one with nature and puppies, and I happen to love to meditate!
If you want to join me in this wonderfully rewarding adventure of feeling amazing and helping others to feel amazing, contact me for more information. Together, with everyONE else, we will make a difference, one drop at a time.
